CADBURY HOUSE HOTEL, BRISTOL.

A Night at Cadbury House Hotel.

A countryside get away 26 miles from the City.

Set in the slopes of Cadbury Hill surrounded by woodland views of North Somerset, Cadbury House Hotel feels as though you’re in the depths of the countryside yet you’re only 26 miles from the City of Bath, and 15 from Bristol.

A Lasting First Impression…

Driving up the driveway of the hotel, we were both completely blown away. Stunning landscape gardens in front of the house and acres of greenery. Flo lives in London so to say it was a bit of a change of scenery would be an understatement!

The main entrance is strikingly well light and beautiful. We were welcomed with friendly faces and handed warm double chocolate cookies… Not a bad start hey!!

The property that sits in the centre of the hotel was converted into a Country Club in the 1970’s and in 2003, was converted into the present day 4-start Doubletree by Hilton.

It now has 132 hotel rooms, a wellbeing centre with a spa, pool and gym that is open to both members and non-members.

The Rooms.

We checked into our room, immediately dropped our bags and as anyone would, explored every corner in total excitement. The rooms are definitely designed with luxury in mind. THEEE comfiest king-size bed you will ever lay your behind on, white, black and grey interiors – the rooms are clearly looked after.

Itching to explore the grounds, we set off to have a wander and actually, spent a lot of our time outside. Terraced lawns, a beautiful fountain, giant outdoor chess set – it has something for everyone.

Back to the room, washed, dressed and glammed up ready for dinner at Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill.

Wining and Dining.

Dinner was divine and our waitress couldn’t have been more helpful.

We were seated at a leather booth in the dining room. Table-lamps and low-lighting, it was very atmospheric!

The restaurant aims to provide affordable glamour and it was just that. Starting with warm, freshly baked sourdough, our taste buds were suitably teased and ready to order the main course which we decided, just had to be steak.

A short while later, our plates arrived. Perfectly cooked steak garnished with lightly roasted vine tomatoes served with Bernaise sauce and triple cooked chips. Crisp and crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside – just as you’d hope.

By 10pm we were back in our room and making the most of our hotel robes! Chick flick, face masks and mugs of hot chocolate – by definition and reality, it was the perfect girls night in!

The Breakfast Buffet.

We slept VERY well but us being us, we were dying to see what the hotel gym and pool had to offer. 7am saw us making our way over ready to get a quick sweat on.

Workout complete, we slowly made our way back to our room with breakfast on our minds.

The sun was shining and once again, the Somerset countryside seemed to be calling to us so we took a leisurely walk around the gardens.

Breakfast ended at 10:30am and check-out time was midday so we had plenty time to take our time getting ready, drinking coffee and packing our bags.

Stomachs rumbling again, we headed down to the familiar restaurant settings for breakfast.

Pastries, cereals, fruits and hot breakfast items, toast all washed down with tea and coffee. Just what we needed! Wanting the make the most of the rare sunshine, we moved out to the terrace to finish our coffee. I don’t know about you, but I wish that’s how every Monday morning started!!

Surrounding Areas.

Seeing as it was Flo’s first time in Bristol, we decided to really make the most of our day and head to Clevedon Pier before heading back to Bath.

A short 7 mile drive meant that 20 minutes after checking out of the hotel, we were walking along Clevedon Pier. B-e-a-u-ti -fully relaxing and tranquil, we took a minute to reflect on a magical 24 hours.

Ready for our umpteenth cup of the day, we browsed the local high-street shops and picked up a coffee to go.
