PROTEIN WAFFLES.

Low Calorie, High Protein Waffles!

If you’re an OG follower of both my blog and Instagram account, you’ll know breakfast is my thing. You’ll also know that protein pancakes are an absolute staple in my diet. The typically indulgent breakfast treat has been made more ‘every day’ by swapping and changing just a few super simple ingredients. Did you know you can do the same for protein waffles??

Pancakes require a certain level of attention – you have to watch the mixture take to the pan, flip them just before they burn, and then stack them for that all important IG snap. Waffles however, can be mixed in a blender, poured into a waffle iron and left to cook whilst you prepare your toppings. It’s honestly as easy as that.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that at the moment, there seems to be an obsession with making everything protein based and sometimes, it is a bit OTT. You are able to bake and eat a batch of normal waffles if you want too but, if you did want an extra hit of protein, this is an easy way to get it in.

Light, fluffy and low kcal, these waffles worked an absolute treat so lets get stuck into the recipe!

Topping Ideas.

Method.

  1. Blitz your lo-dough base in a blender until it becomes a fine crumb.
  2. Mix all remaining ingredients in bowl.
  3. Heat your waffle iron and spray with fry light.
  4. Once the iron is hot, pour the mix and close the lid.
  5. Leave to cook for 5-8 minutes.
  6. Carefully open the waffle iron and gently remove.
  7. Serve will all toppings of your choice.
  8. Enjoy!

As you can see, I like to go all out with the toppings. On this particular occasion, I opted for chocolate granola, a dollop of greek yoghurt, half a banana, frozen berries and a hefty drizzle of choc shot. In my eyes, the more the merrier!
